Lamyati Nazeero Kafi Nazarin” is a celebrated naat (Islamic devotional poem) composed by Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi (1856–1921), a prominent Islamic scholar and poet from the Indian subcontinent. This naat is renowned for its unique structure, where each line is written in a different language—Arabic, Persian, Urdu, and Hindi—yet maintains a harmonious rhythm and profound meaning throughout.
The poem is a heartfelt tribute to the unparalleled virtues and beauty of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It employs vivid metaphors and imagery to express the poet’s deep love and admiration. For instance, the Prophet is likened to a full moon, symbolizing his radiant presence, and the poet portrays himself as a sailor in a stormy sea, seeking the Prophet’s guidance to reach safety.
These verses exemplify the poet’s profound devotion and his plea for the Prophet’s intercession and guidance.
Dastaan - Abdullah Qureshi
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
[Reportedly inscribed on the wall of Mother Teresa’s children’s home in Calcutta, and attributed to her. However, an article in the New York Times has since reported (March 8, 2002) that the original version of this poem was written by Kent M. Keith.]

This song ( Baat Adhuri) by Abdullah Qureshi pretty much sums up my feelings:
‘Ehsaas bohat hai dil main bus
Alfaaz khatam ho jatay hain
Jab kuch bhi samajh main nahin ata
To tum hee samajh main atay ho’
Something old must end for something new to start,
I’m gonna let myself just fall apart…
Probably one of the best things I saw online in a while. This song brought back so many memories and my heart just broke into a million pieces.
Lucky Ali you’re an absolute legend!
